IMPHAL, Feb 11 – Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam
Khemchand Singh has officially flagged off a 30-member media delegation for an
international exposure visit to Vietnam.
The tour, which began on Wednesday, is a significant initiative aimed at empowering local journalists and promoting a more informed society. The group includes 25 members from the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) along with five officials from the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
During the flag-off ceremony in Imphal, the Chief Minister encouraged the journalists to use the trip to learn about international reporting standards and Vietnam's socio-economic development. He noted that such visits are vital for professional growth and for broadening the perspectives of those who shape public discourse in Manipur.
The mission focuses
on:
Professional Development: Studying modern digital storytelling and
media ethics.
Regional Insight: Understanding Vietnam's rapid economic
recovery and social policies.
Public Diplomacy: Strengthening ties between media
organisations in both regions.
A union spokesperson described the visit as a major step forward for the state's press. By observing foreign media operations first-hand, the participants aim to bring back fresh ideas and skills to enhance the quality of local news.
The Chief Minister extended
his best wishes to the team, expressing hope that the journey would be both
safe and fruitful for the state's media fraternity.
