Lamka, April 6, 2026: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Pu Kevin Lalrammawi (34), a dedicated Hmar Village Volunteer from V. Munhoih, Lamka.
In an official condolence message issued on Monday, the ITLF stated that Lalrammawi served with unwavering commitment and courage during the ongoing difficult times. While on duty for the protection of his people and land, he reportedly fell ill and passed away despite efforts to save him.
The forum described his death as a profound loss not only to his family and the Hmar community but also to the wider Kuki-Zo people. Recognising his sacrifice and selfless service, ITLF has declared Lalrammawi a “Martyr.”
According to the statement, he has been laid to rest at the Selken Martyrs Cemetery alongside others who have given their lives for the cause of their people. As a mark of respect, ITLF members draped his mortal remains with the Hmar Thangsuoh puon, symbolising dignity, identity, and sacrifice.
The forum also extended gratitude to individuals, village volunteers, leaders, and well-wishers who stood in solidarity with the bereaved family and paid their last respects during the time of grief.
Praying for the departed soul, ITLF expressed hope that the Almighty would grant strength and comfort to the grieving family. The statement concluded by affirming that Lalrammawi’s sacrifice will continue to inspire future generations.
