KSO Kamjong Condemns Molnoi Village Burning

Kamjong, May 13, 2026: The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Kamjong District, has strongly condemned the recent burning of Molnoi village in Myanmar, allegedly carried out by the NSCN Eastern Flank, calling it a serious act that has escalated tensions in the border region.

In a press release issued on May 13, KSO Kamjong stated that the incident occurred around 2:30 PM on May 12 and described Molnoi as an “innocent village” whose residents have once again become victims of violence.

The organisation noted that this was not the first attack on the village, recalling that Molnoi had also been set ablaze during the 1990s, causing long-standing grievances among Kuki communities in the region.

KSO Kamjong further expressed concern over allegations made by certain Tangkhul groups against KNA-B in connection with the burning of Choro, Namlee, and Wanglee villages. The organisation claimed that such accusations, made without concrete evidence, were allegedly used to justify crossing the international border and attacking Molnoi village.

The student body also pointed out that the burning of Molnoi came after the destruction of Chassad, Gampal, Haijang, and Lanchah villages in Kamjong district, raising fears over the safety and security of both Indian and Myanmarese Kuki communities residing along the border areas.

“Although Molnoi village lies in another country, its people are still our brethren,” the statement read, adding that Kuki communities would continue to support affected villagers in their time of distress. However, KSO warned that if retaliation occurs as a consequence of the injustices inflicted upon them, authorities should not place the entire blame on Kuki communities.

The organisation further stressed that issues and conflicts arising within India should remain confined to India, just as Myanmar’s internal matters should remain within Myanmar.

KSO Kamjong urged the concerned authorities to take timely and responsible measures to prevent further escalation of the situation and called for peace, justice, and protection of innocent civilians.
