CCPur College: Govt Seeks In-Charge Principal After Accident

Lamka, March 16, 2026: The Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur, has formally reported the accident of Dr. Siamkhum Guite, Principal of Churachandpur College, and requested the appointment of an in-charge Principal to ensure administrative continuity.

According to the letter dated 9 March 2026, Dr. Guite was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit following a serious car accident on 20th February 2026 at Tipaimukh Road, Phailian Bazar, Churachandpur. The Directorate emphasized the urgent need for leadership arrangements to prevent disruption in college administration.

The communication included a list of senior-most associate professors eligible for consideration:

  • Caroline Zothangmawi, Geography — retirement due July 2029, with 3 years & 4 months of service remaining.

  • Lily L. Tombing, Education — retirement due April 2032, with 6 years & 1 month of service remaining.

  • Bliss Haubiakching, Physics — retirement due November 2032, with 6 years & 8 months of service remaining.

The letter dated 16 March 2026, signed by L. Radhakanta Singh, Director of University & Higher Education, Manipur, was addressed to the Commissioner (Hr. & Tech. Education) and forwarded to the Principal of Churachandpur College and the Guard file for necessary action.

This move underscores the government’s priority to maintain stability in higher education institutions while ensuring academic and administrative functions continue smoothly.
