KIM Condemns Attack on Noney Villages, Seeks UT Status

Lamka, July 15, 2026: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has strongly condemned the reported attack, arson and destruction of Teikhang and Lenglong villages in Noney district, alleging that the assault was carried out around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday by Tangkhul-led factions of the NSCN (Muivah) and ZUF-K.

In a press statement issued on July 15, KIM described the incident as a serious escalation of violence and alleged that it forms part of a broader campaign of strategic displacement and territorial expansion.

The organisation further claimed that the attacks have exposed a failure to protect vulnerable frontier villages and called for immediate intervention by the Central Government.

KIM reiterated its long-standing demand for a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory with a Legislature for the Kuki-Zo people under the Indian Constitution, stating that it is essential to ensure their security and dignity.

It also urged the Centre to take decisive action against the alleged perpetrators and appealed to national and international media to highlight the situation.
