Zillai Urges Lawful College Order, Condemns Assault

Lamka, July 09, 2026: The Zillai (Vaiphei Students’ Association), Churachandpur Block, has issued a strong statement addressing both administrative disputes at Churachandpur Government College and a violent incident in Gouchinkhup Veng.

In its press release on 06 July 2026, Zillai stressed that academic welfare and the peaceful functioning of the college are paramount. It urged authorities to issue a clear directive in strict compliance with the interim order of the Hon’ble High Court of Manipur, calling for lawful resolution of disputes without delay. The association emphasized that grievances must be pursued only through constitutional means, with full respect for government orders.

In a separate condemnation, Zillai denounced the abduction and brutal assault of an individual on July 6. The victim, reportedly mistaken for another person, was abducted, blindfolded, and assaulted before being released. Zillai described the act as a grave attack on public safety and human dignity, demanding immediate identification, arrest, and prosecution of the perpetrators.

The association appealed to the public to remain calm, cooperate with law enforcement, and reject violence, vigilantism, and intimidation. It underscored that justice must be swift, impartial, and uncompromising to restore confidence in the rule of law.
