LAMKA, August 19, 2026: The Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) has issued a condolence message following the passing of Dr. Niketu Iralu and Dr. Vilethonyii Kesiezie. Describing the two Naga figures as distinguished sons of Nagaland, KOHUR stated that their loss leaves an irreplaceable void felt far beyond state borders.
Dr. Niketu Iralu was remembered as a respected scholar and peace worker whose dedication to non-violence, dialogue, and reconciliation helped shape peace-building efforts across the Northeast for decades. KOHUR noted that his counsel earned deep respect among both the Naga and Kuki communities of Manipur.
The organization also honored Dr. Vilethonyii Kesiezie, proprietor of Oking Hospital in Nagaland. KOHUR highlighted his humanitarian support during the ethnic violence that impacted the Kuki-Zo community starting in May 2023. Dr. Kesiezie and his family opened the hospital's doors to hundreds of displaced and wounded Kuki patients from Manipur, providing essential medical care and waiving hospital dues for underprivileged patients. KOHUR extended its condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the Kuki-Zo people of Manipur.
