Kakching, August 11, 2026: The District Social Welfare Office, Kakching, has announced financial assistance for eligible patients from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities under the Dr. Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme (Revised-2026).
According to a notice issued by the District Social Welfare Officer, Kakching, on August 7, the scheme is being implemented by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The scheme provides financial assistance for the treatment of serious and life-threatening diseases to eligible patients belonging to SC and ST communities whose annual family income is less than Rs. 5 lakh.
Under the scheme, the maximum financial assistance available for different treatments is as follows:
- Heart surgery: Rs. 1.50 lakh
- Kidney surgery/Dialysis: Rs. 3.50 lakh
- Cancer surgery/Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy: Rs. 2.50 lakh
- Brain surgery: Rs. 2.00 lakh
- Kidney/Organ transplant: Rs. 3.50 lakh
- Spinal surgery: Rs. 1.50 lakh
- Other life-threatening diseases: Rs. 2.00 lakh
Eligible candidates may apply for medical aid by post using the prescribed application format. Applications may be submitted either in the prescribed printed format or drafted on plain paper according to the prescribed proforma.
The notice stated that application guidelines, prescribed forms and other details are available on the official website of the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, dosje.gov.in.
Eligible beneficiaries may also approach the District Social Welfare Office, Kakching, for necessary guidance and assistance whenever required.
The notice has been circulated to the Deputy Commissioner, Kakching; District Information Officer (DIPR), Kakching; institutions functioning under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE) in the district; and other concerned offices for wide publicity.
