ZSF Urges End to Hornbill Killing, Call for Conservation Bid

NEW LAMKA, August 20, 2026: The Zomi Students’ Federation – General Headquarters (ZSF-GHQ) has strongly opposed the indiscriminate killing of endangered species, particularly hornbills, and urged the public to help protect the birds.

In a press release issued on 20 August 2026, the ZSF-GHQ said several reports of hornbill killings have surfaced in recent months. The federation noted that the hornbill holds special significance as the national symbol of the Zomis and is also an endangered species.

The ZSF-GHQ appealed to people to immediately stop activities involving the killing of hornbills. It particularly urged those hunting the birds for sport and recreation to choose alternative forms of recreation.

The federation stressed that collective cooperation is essential to protecting endangered species and preserving wildlife for future generations.
