According to the official release by the Chief and Secretary of Chaljang Village Authority on September 1, 2026, the assault occurred at approximately 8:05 a.m. in the morning. The Village Authority stated that the attack was carried out by the Tangkhul-led NSCN-IM armed terror group alongside its proxy militant outfit, ZUF-K. The perpetrators used bombs during the assault, causing widespread panic and destruction, which the Authority characterized as a deliberate ploy to spread terror among innocent children, women, and elderly residents.
Expressing outrage over the incident and betrayal of trust, the Village Authority stated: "Let there be no confusion: the very forces sworn to protect us have betrayed us. They did not stand guard—they stood aside. They did not defend—they enabled. That trust is broken. And we refuse to pretend otherwise."
Immediate Demands Issued to Government Authorities:
First: Removal of central security armed force unit stationed at Makui Village. Their presence is no longer a safeguard; it is a threat.
Second: Launch an immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation. Hunt down every perpetrator involved in this brutal attack.
Third: Punish the NSCN-IM and its proxy militant outfits ZUF-K not with leniency, not with diplomacy, but with full, unyielding weight of the law.
