Imphal, September 4, 2026: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Friday visited L. Champhai Village in Kangpokpi district to inspect an ongoing water supply project and review the repair of a main water pipeline supplying drinking water to Thangmeiband in Imphal.
The pipeline was damaged during the crisis in May 2023, disrupting water supply to the Imphal locality.
During the inspection, senior officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) informed the Chief Minister that the repair work is expected to be completed within a month. Following completion, potable water supply to the affected areas is expected to be restored.
Khemchand, accompanied by Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen, Sekmai MLA Heikham Dingo Singh and Thangmeiband MLA Kh. Joykisan Singh, assured necessary support for the smooth execution of the project.
The Chief Minister also stated that security forces would be provided to facilitate the work. He appealed to all sections of society to shun violence and work collectively towards restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
