Imphal, September 2, 2026: The Manipur Legislative Assembly on Wednesday reaffirmed its previous resolutions urging the Government of India to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur before conducting the Census.
The resolution, passed as Resolution No. 6 of the Twelfth Manipur Legislative Assembly, reaffirmed resolutions adopted on August 5, 2022, and March 1, 2024.
The House urged the Centre to undertake the NRC update in the state before the Census, stating that the move was in the interest of Manipur in particular and the nation in general.
The resolution was signed by Th. Satyabrata Singh, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, on September 2, 2026.
