Just after the state celebrated educators, targeting schools such as the complete destruction of Lhungjang Primary School in Lhungjang village stands as a glaring violation of basic human rights and fundamental educational rights. These barbaric acts underscore a growing sense of desperation and anger among local communities who continue to bear the brunt of unceasing conflict. It is a stark cry for help that the authorities simply cannot afford to ignore any longer. The State Government must immediately step up, enforce stringent laws, and swiftly arrest all the culprits responsible for perpetuating this destructive lawlessness. Beyond firm law enforcement, the government must take decisive action to curb the endless cycle of violence and actively strive to rebuild broken trust, social harmony, and long-term peace across the region. THE unprovoked midnight firing on Saturday between Shijang and M. Cannanphai villages in Manipur serves as a grim and alarming reminder of how fragile life remains in the region. The local villagers have rightly condemned this cowardly act for terrorising innocent residents, spreading widespread panic, and disrupting the daily lives of vulnerable children and the elderly. Rogue elements responsible for this midnight raid seem intent on causing chaos, maligning the reputation of local peace organisations, and deliberately attempting to sabotage a crucial peace pact that has helped maintain a delicate balance. While local warnings of zero tolerance are understandable under such immense provocation, lasting security cannot be left to community measures or private threats of retaliation; the primary responsibility to protect lives rests squarely on the shoulders of the authorities. The state government must step up immediately, take much stronger action to curb this dangerous resurgence of violence, and enforce the rule of law with absolute firmness.
