Nagaland, September 2, 2026: The Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland (ZYFN) has appealed to the leadership and members of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) (K) and ZUF (J) to exercise restraint and end ongoing violence between the two groups.
In a press statement titled “An Appeal for Peace, Restraint and Reconciliation,” the ZYFN expressed deep concern and sadness over recent tensions and violent incidents involving the two groups.
The organisation said continued confrontation and bloodshed among members of the same community could further weaken the Zeliangrong people, particularly as they already face external challenges and threats.
The ZYFN stressed that the Zeliangrong people share a common history, identity and heritage, and called for differences to be addressed through peaceful dialogue, mutual understanding and reconciliation rather than violence.
It urged both ZUF factions to explore every possible avenue for reconciliation and unity, putting aside personal and organisational differences in the larger interest of the community.
The ZYFN also warned that the patience and concern of the Zeliangrong people cannot be taken for granted indefinitely. If meaningful efforts toward peace and reconciliation fail, the organisation said it may consider initiating a democratic and peaceful non-cooperation movement against both parties.
