Imphal, October 28, 2026: The Government of Manipur has ordered that all offices and establishments under Thanlon Territorial Development (T.D.) Block, which were previously placed under Pherzawl district, will henceforth come under the jurisdiction of Churachandpur district.
The order was issued by the Governor of Manipur on October 27, 2026, and published in the Manipur Gazette Extraordinary, No. 246, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
According to the order, bearing No. SEC-101/1/2025-RD and PR-RD&PR, the decision follows the Revenue Department's notification No. 16/20/2016-R dated December 8, 2016, concerning the bifurcation of the erstwhile Churachandpur district into Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts. Under that arrangement, Thanlon Sub-Division was placed under Pherzawl district.
The latest order also refers to Revenue Department Notification No. DRO-103/1/2021-REV dated January 6, 2022, concerning the re-amalgamation of Thanlon Sub-Division with Churachandpur district.
In light of these notifications, the Governor has directed that all offices and establishments under Thanlon T.D. Block, which were allocated to Pherzawl district under the Department's Office Memorandum No. 21/1/2018-RD&PR dated August 18, 2018, shall henceforth fall under the jurisdiction of Churachandpur district, Manipur.
The order states that the decision has been issued with the approval of the competent authority.
