Khallai FC Jersey Launched for Zomi Nam Ni 2026

January 15, 2026, was a joyful and meaningful day for Khallai FC supporters, well-wishers and the Thangkhal community as the club officially released its new jersey for the upcoming 78th Zomi Nam Ni Football Tournament 2026.

The jersey unveiling was marked with a special prayer led by Rev. K. Ginkhankap, the respected translator of the New Testament in the Thangkhal dialect. His prayer brought a spiritual blessing to the team as they prepare to take part in the prestigious tournament.

The jersey has been generously sponsored by young Thangkhal social worker Mr MG Muanlal Thangkhal and his family. The club and the community expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this kind support. May God bless Mr Muanlal and his family for standing with the team.

“Run in such a way that you may win it.” - 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NRSV). This verse reminded the players to compete with discipline, faith and determination.

Warm wishes and best of luck to Khallai FC as they step onto the field to represent their people with pride.

ZSF Rejects Manipur Govt Formation

Lamka, 10 Jan 2026: The Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF), General Headquarters in New Lamka, has issued a strong press release urging Kuki-Zo people to shun participation in Manipur's government formation. The statement, from ZSF's Information & Publicity Wing, decries ongoing Meitei-led aggression, including church burnings and village attacks, rendering coexistence impossible.

ZSF echoes the Kuki-Zo Council's resolution, demanding a separate administration like a Union Territory. It warns that any involvement by MLAs or leaders betrays the collective will amid ethnic strife displacing thousands. "Do not form govt with them," the release asserts in Zomi, stressing unity and no compromise on political aspirations. Contact: 9774125647.
This follows similar stances from KZC and ITLF, signalling deepening community consensus against Manipur's fold. ZSF calls for appointments and discussions to strategise ahead, vowing to safeguard Zomi interests. The youth body's voice amplifies calls for territorial separation as the path to peace.

ITLF Endorses Kuki-Zo Separate Admin Demand

Lamka, 10 Jan 2026: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has firmly endorsed the Kuki-Zo Governing Council's decision, declaring that Kuki-Zo people cannot join Manipur's government following Meitei-led ethnic violence. The press release, signed by ITLF President Pu Haokip and Secretary Pu Thangjolien, highlights over 60,000 displaced, churches destroyed, and widespread devastation from Imphal Valley-based attacks.

The statement reaffirms the 30 December 2025 resolution from the KZC meeting in Churachandpur, which unanimously demanded a separate Union Territory administration. ITLF stresses that no Kuki-Zo MLAs should participate in forming the Manipur government, holding such actions as personal responsibility outside collective will. This comes after the KZC's earlier clarification on 6 January.
The endorsement underscores fractured trust after broken ceasefires and relentless targeting of Kuki-Zo areas. ITLF urges unity behind the territorial demand as the sole political solution, vowing no compromise under current realities. Community leaders call for steadfast resolve to protect lives and heritage.

CRPF Seize 11.26 kg Suspected Opium in Senapati, Manipur

Senapati, Jan 7, 2026: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint team of the Special Operations Team (SOT) and D-78 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) seized a large quantity of suspected opium during routine frisking and checking along National Highway-2.

The operation was carried out at Nepali Khuti at around 4:30 pm on Monday. During the checking, the joint team intercepted a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-DS-9963. On thorough inspection, suspected opium was found concealed inside the spare tyre of the vehicle, indicating a deliberate attempt to smuggle contraband.

In the presence of an Executive Magistrate, the recovered substance was weighed and found to be 11.264 kg. The suspected opium, along with the vehicle and mobile phones recovered from the accused, was lawfully seized following due procedure.

The accused was later handed over to Senapati Police Station for further investigation and legal action as per the law.

Security officials said the successful operation highlights the strong coordination, alertness, and commitment of the security forces in curbing drug trafficking and protecting society from the growing menace of narcotics.

Assam Rifles Clarifies Role Amid Misinformation in Manipur

Some inimical elements have made desperate, repeated & failed attempts to question the role, intent and integrity of the Central Security Forces, especially Assam Rifles, working relentlessly towards saving lives and restoration of peace in Manipur from 03 May onwards.

It needs to be understood that due to the complex nature of the situation on the ground in Manipur, occasional differences at tactical level do occur between various security forces. However, all such misunderstandings at the functional level are immediately addressed through the joint mechanism to synergize the efforts for restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur.

Two instances have emerged over the past 24 hours aimed at maligning Assam Rifles. While in first case, the Assam Rifles Battalion has acted strictly in accordance with the mandate of the Unified Headquarters of strict enforcement of Buffer Zone guidelines towards the aim of preventing violence between the two communities, the second case of Assam Rifles being moved out of an area is not even related to them. An Infantry Battalion of the Army is deployed in the area (ever since the crisis erupted in May) from where the narrative of Assam Rifles being moved out has been made.

Indian Army & Assam Rifles assure the people of Manipur that we will continue to remain firm and resolute in our actions to prevent any attempt that could result in furthering violence in an already volatile atmosphere.

The British Map of Kuki Country (1904)

Historically, the British recognized tribes living in Western Myanmar, Northeast India, and Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracks as Kukis.

Only Bangladesh, India, and Myanmar can cede these lands based on recorded history. The US and UN can determine the formation of a separate Kuki country, grounded in British records and Kuki history.

Kuki country is our rightful political heritage, yet political sovereignty can only be settled in accordance with the 1969 UN declaration. Any further attempts to regain and  restore pre-colonial sovereignty without the  rightful name 'Kuki' will be void and null.

All Tribes within the British Map of Kuki Country are indeed Kukis.

Long live the Kuki Nation!

LONG LIVE KUKILAND 🇮🇳

MSF Condemns US Action in Venezuela, Seeks UN Role

Imphal, Jan 6, 2025: The Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) has strongly condemned the recent United States military action in Venezuela, calling it a serious violation of international law and urging the United Nations to intervene immediately.

In a press release issued on January 6, the apex student body of Manipur stated that the US operation, which reportedly resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, showed blatant disregard for state sovereignty and international norms. MSF said the action lacked authorisation from the UN Security Council and was not justified as self-defence under the UN Charter.

The federation noted that such military action violates core principles of international law, including non-interference, respect for sovereignty, and the prohibition of the use of force. It added that the UN Secretary-General has described the incident as setting a “dangerous precedent,” with several countries, including Russia, China, France, Brazil, Cuba and Mexico, condemning the US move.

Describing the capture of President Maduro and his wife as “kidnapping,” the MSF raised serious concerns over human rights and the rule of law. It demanded their immediate release, stating that the act undermines Venezuela’s constitutional order and territorial integrity.

The MSF also expressed concern over divisions within the international community on the issue and warned that the incident could destabilise the region and weaken global order. It urged the United Nations to take up the matter urgently and direct the US to respect international law.

Calling for an immediate end to hostilities, the MSF appealed for a peaceful resolution through dialogue. It urged all parties to uphold sovereignty, non-interference and human rights, and called on the international community to work collectively towards lasting peace.

MNF Withdraws from Lairam Legislature Party

Aizawl, Jan 6, 2026: The Mizo National Front (MNF) has officially withdrawn from the Lairam Legislature Party (LLP), citing political reasons, according to a formal letter submitted to the Governor of Mizoram.

The letter, issued from the MNF General Headquarters in Aizawl and dated January 6, 2026, was addressed to His Excellency, the Governor of Mizoram. It stated that the Lairam Legislature Party (LLP) was formed jointly by MNF and Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and was submitted for the creation of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).

However, due to what the party described as a “political problem,” the MNF informed the Governor that it has decided to withdraw from the LLP with immediate effect from January 6, 2026.

The communication was signed by MNF General Secretary R. Rohmingliana, who is also in charge of District Council Affairs, Mizoram. Copies of the letter were forwarded to ZPM Legislature Party leader Pu T. Z. Lunga and the MNF office file.

The development is expected to have political implications for the functioning and formation process of the Lai Autonomous District Council.
