THE image captures the devastating transformation of a paddy field in Manipur valley, before and after being ravaged by heavy rain and floods. Once lush and vibrant, the field now lies submerged under muddy waters, with debris and destruction marking the aftermath.
In the wake of the 2023 ethnic violence, over 300 Kuki-Zo churches were reportedly vandalised, burnt, and desecrated by Meitei groups. Subsequently, the Manipur valley—predominantly inhabited by the Meiteis—was struck by unprecedented flooding in 2024 and 2025.
Some have begun to believe these recurring calamities as a divine judgment or curse in response.
