Gong-Sounding Stone Discovered in Zogam – A Natural Wonder

IN the hills of Zogam, a fascinating natural wonder has captured the attention of local villagers in Suangsang village — a massive stone that produces the sound of a gong when struck.

This extraordinary rock, sitting prominently on a cliffside, resonates with a deep metallic tone whenever its corners are hit, much like the sound of a traditional gong used in cultural gatherings.

Strikingly, not every part of the stone responds the same way. While the edges and certain spots ring out with clarity, some middle portions remain silent, producing only a dull thud.

Recently, some curious Zomi villagers visited the site to experience the stone for themselves. With small stones and bare hands, they tapped different surfaces and were amazed by the varying sounds that emerged. For them, it was not just an unusual natural formation but also a reminder of the mysteries hidden in the land of Zogam.

Many believe such stones hold cultural and spiritual significance, symbolizing the harmony between nature and tradition. Others see it as a rare geological phenomenon worth studying and preserving. Either way, the gong-sounding stone has become a point of wonder and pride for the local community.

As word spreads, this natural marvel is expected to draw more visitors, adding to the charm and cultural richness of Zogam. It stands as a reminder that sometimes the earth itself can create music, waiting to be discovered by those willing to listen.
