Security forces in Manipur have intensified intelligence-based combing operations and cordon-and-search drives to crack down on extortion and other criminal activities across the state.
As part of these operations, on September 27, 2025, an active cadre of the banned outfit RPF/PLA was arrested from Khurai Konsam Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.
The arrested individual has been identified as Moirangthem Chaobi Singh, also known as Yaima, Lanthoiba, and Kumar (50), a resident of Heirok Part-II Laishram Leikai in Thoubal district.
According to officials, Singh was involved in extortion activities and also accused of instigating mobs against security forces. A mobile phone and a wallet were recovered from his possession at the time of arrest.
Security agencies have said the ongoing operations will continue in order to curb illegal activities and bring to justice those engaged in anti-social acts in the state.
