Zogam Today Celebrates 13th Anniversary; Supporter Group Formed

Zogam Today celebrated its 13th anniversary on 30 October 2025 at 8:30 PM in the ZSP Library Hall, Zogal Hall, Zoveng, Lamka.

Editor, Zogam Today

Mr. Chinlunthang, MLA of 60-Singngat (ST) Assembly Constituency, said the media is “the fourth pillar of our society and nation” but added that “running a daily newspaper is not an easy job.” He shared that he understood the hardships faced by Zogam Today Editor, Mr. Nengkhanlun @ Lun Samte, and had even advised him to discontinue at times.

He went on to say, “Zogam Today is a private publication. Though some may not read or subscribe, it sends a strong message that there is a Zou vernacular newspaper which promotes and develops our society and nation. It stands as an important fourth pillar of democracy.”

Appreciating the editor and staff for their 13 years of commitment, he wished Zogam Today continued success, hoping it would one day celebrate its 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee). He also proposed forming a Supporter Group made up of well-wishers to help sustain the newspaper.

Mr. Thangzamang, President of the United Zou Organisation (UZO GHQ), thanked the editor and his team for publishing in the Zou dialect, which, he said, “has given a lot of information to the people.” He added, “Media is shaping the world in a better and good way. The UZO GHQ has been able to function properly till today because of Zogam Today — it is one of the reasons behind our success.”

Ms. Manuamching, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Pherzawl and Advisor of Zogam Today, said, “For progress, there is nothing easy in this world. The one who dares to face it; one dares to follow, follows it.” She encouraged the promotion of Zou literature and noted that “we have Zou MIL Class IX to XII textbooks, and Zogam Today can help improve the usage of the Zou dialect by following the Zou literature.”

She praised the editor for overcoming many challenges to provide the Zou community with a media platform, saying his efforts were “very much appreciated.” She urged the team to “strive their best to preserve Zou literature.”

Mr. Michael Ginzasuan, Advisor of Zogam Today, also appreciated the editorial staff’s efforts. He said, “We must think about how to sustain this paper.” He pointed out that while many small and medium print newspapers are disappearing due to social media, Zogam Today has survived because of its loyal subscribers and supporters.

He further shared that although the editor is still young, “he has been interested in journalism for over 25 years now.” He also narrated the newspaper’s journey: “Zogam Today started as weekly and monthly magazines named Zopatong and Zogam Thusuo before becoming a daily newspaper on 30 October 2012.”

On the 13th anniversary, Rev. Dr. S.K. Manlun and family, Mr. S. Dalthang, Mr. Thangsuankhup, Treasurer of UZO GHQ, Dr. Lincoln Zou, PRO to MLA/Singngat, and Elder M. John Zou, Secretary (External) of UZO GHQ, provided financial assistance as a token of support.

Leaders from UZO GHQ, Zou Youth Organisation (ZYO GHQ), Zou Sangnaupang Pawl (ZSP GHQ), and several well-wishers attended the celebration. A thanksgiving dinner followed, which was blessed by Rev. Dr. S.K. Manlun with a humble prayer. The editor thanked God for the continuous blessings and expressed gratitude to all who attended and supported Zogam Today.

It was also announced that a Supporter Group for Zogam Today has been officially created to sustain the newspaper in the long run. Under this plan, anyone can subscribe to Zogam Today monthly, annually, for five years, ten years, or more.

As part of this initiative, Ms. Muanching, wife of Manglamthang Samte from D. Phailian (Moreh), made a generous contribution of ₹20,000 in support of Zogam Today.

Those who wish to contribute or subscribe can contact the editor at 9612942453 or via email at zogamtoday@gmail.com.

Looking ahead, the Zogam Today team expressed their faith in the Lord, saying, “We look forward to another 12 years with faith in our Lord and Saviour, who does everything for us. We trust in Him.”

May God continue to bless the Zogam Today editor and staff, advisors, supporters, and well-wishers.
