CoTU Suspends 24-Hour Shutdown on AH-2 and NH-37

PRESS COMMUNIQUE
28th January 2026

While appreciating the general public, church leaders and all Civil Organisation for having supported the 24 Hours total shutdown imposed on the AH 2 and NH 37 from the midnight of 27th January 2026 over the inaction of the Government to apprehend the perpetrators, ZUF-S Kamson group who set a blazed K Songlung Village, Part II on the auspicious observance of Republic Day, the Committee after threadbare discussion have resolved to reconsider the total shutdown.

Furthermore, the Commitee along with its stakeholders deliberated on the Joint declaration made by the UNC and KIM at Kangpokpi on the 27th January 2026 for amicable discourse, the Committee unanimously resolved to uphold the decission taken by the two Tribal apex body for furtherance of cordial relationship between the two Tribal Community.

Therefore, the Committee resolved to suspend the 24 Hours total shutdown imposed on the 27th midnight of January to 28th January 2026 along the AH 2 and NH 37 with immediate effect after positive assurance from the concern authority.
