SYMROPIA FC became the first team to have concluded the group-stage as Pool champions as goals by Manglianthang and Napoleon Lunminlen Haokip ensured a 2-0 win against The Shepherd's Football Academy for their third win on the trot.
A draw would have been enough for The Shepherd's Football Academy to claim stake in the knock-out round and they fought brilliantly from the start but a simple finish by Manglianthang after fine work down the left flank by S. Kamthianjohn Ngaihte put SYMROPIA FC 1-0 up at half-time.
The Shepherd's Football Academy dug deep to get back into the match with the start of the second-half and they went really close to scoring midway but Blair Mungsianthang put his effort just wide before Dalliansang blasted another effort off target. However, any hopes of comeback for The Shepherd's Football Academy was all but dented as SYMROPIA FC put the match to bed when Napoleon Lunminlen Haokip popped in a rebound after Khupminlun Seldou's fierce strike was denied by goalkeeper Jonathan and SYMROPIA FC emerged Pool A champions with a 2-0 win.
Another qualifying slot for Group A is still at stake but today's result handed Khallai FC a new life as they take on Papa FC tomorrow. A win for Khallai FC in tomorrow's match against out of contention Papa FC will earn them a knock-out round place but failing to do so will give The Shepherd's Football Academy a place into the knock-out round.
