Lamka, the 27th January, 2026: The Kuki Baptist Convention (KBC) strongly condemns the heinous act of arson perpetrated by armed cadres of the ZUF (Kamson Group) on January 26, 2026, at K. Songlung Part II, in broad daylight. This reprehensible act of violence targeted K. Songlung Baptist Church, an established member church of the KBC, under KBC Gambih (Parish) No. 7. The KBC views this incident as a disturbing manifestation of terrorism, perpetrated by a certain group of fellow Christian tribals seeking to exploit the prevailing conflict in Manipur, and causing immense distress to innocent villagers already grappling with numerous challenges.
We find it deeply troubling that instead of extending compassion and prayers, these individuals resort to violent acts, straying further from the path of peace and reconciliation. The KBC stands in unwavering solidarity with the villagers of K. Songlung Part II and its church members, committed to ensuring their basic human needs are met and their voices heard.
We appeal to like-minded individuals, groups, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Church organizations, and competent authorities to join hands in rebuilding the village and church at the earliest possible opportunity. Furthermore, we urge the perpetrators to reflect on their actions, seek redemption, and surrender to the authorities.
The KBC remains resolute in its commitment to promoting peace, justice, and harmony, and will continue to support those affected by this dishonourable act.
