In Lamka, a massive peaceful rally was organized today by the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Hmar Students’ Association (HSA), and Zomi Students’ Federation (ZSF). The protesters sent a clear message to New Delhi: they are demanding a permanent political solution—specifically a Union Territory with a legislature—rather than the restoration of a "popular government" in Manipur.
The rally comes at a high-stakes moment for the region. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to meet with 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs in Guwahati today. This meeting is seen as a critical push by the Centre to break the political deadlock and reinstate an elected government before President’s Rule reaches its one-year limit on February 13, 2026.
