THIS photograph from Lamka is nothing short of a disgrace. What should be a main thoroughfare has been transformed into a dangerous, muddy river, proving that our town’s infrastructure is currently a total failure.

Proper drainage isn’t just about convenience; it’s a basic necessity for public safety and health. We have to ask: where are the authorities? The PWD and local administration have clearly gone missing in action. It is their job to design and maintain systems that can handle heavy rain, yet year after year, we see the same pathetic results. Their negligence is quite literally flooding our livelihoods.
However, the blame isn’t theirs alone. This mess is exacerbated by a chronic lack of civic sense. When residents treat drains as rubbish bins, they are sabotaging their own community. A blocked drain is a ticking time bomb, and we are now seeing the explosion.
It’s time for the authorities to step up and for the public to stop the littering. Lamka cannot progress if we are constantly wading through our own waste. We deserve a town that functions, but that requires both government accountability and individual responsibility.
