KANGPOKPI, August 25, 2026: The
District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kangpokpi, conducted a One-Day Awareness
Programme on Child Protection at Revelation International School, Makhan,
Kangpokpi, with the objective of creating awareness among children about their
rights, safety, protection, and the importance of speaking up against abuse and
exploitation.
The
awareness session was conducted by Reena Chanu Moirangthem, District Child
Protection Officer (DCPO), and Kangbam Kishorjit Singh, Legal cum Probation
Officer, DCPU, Kangpokpi, using the concept of “Learning with Fun” to make the
session interactive, engaging, and easy for children to understand. Various
important issues concerning child protection were discussed, including Child
Rights, child abuse, child trafficking, child labour, child marriage, and other
forms of exploitation and violence against children. The children were
encouraged to understand their rights, recognize unsafe situations, and seek
help from trusted adults and appropriate authorities whenever they feel
threatened or unsafe.
A
special session was also conducted on Good Touch and Bad Touch, where
age-appropriate examples were used to help the children understand personal
safety, body boundaries, and the importance of immediately reporting any
uncomfortable or inappropriate touch to a trusted adult. The children were
encouraged to confidently say “No,” move away from unsafe situations, and seek
help whenever necessary.
To
make the programme more lively and enjoyable, the students actively
participated in cultural activities. The children presented a dance
performance, showcasing their talents and adding a joyful atmosphere to the
awareness programme.
As part of the programme, stationery items were also distributed to the children as a gesture of encouragement and support for their education.
