THE Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers (KZVV), Twilang Lhang, strongly condemn the reported attack on unarmed Kuki farmers from Wakotphai Village at around 9:20 a.m. today near Naibet.

According to information received, a combined group of Tangkhul-Liangmei Naga militants, reportedly under the leadership of NSCN-IM, attacked farmers who had been staying overnight at their paddy-field hut.
The incident is deeply concerning as the IT Road area has remained relatively peaceful despite the ongoing conflict. The reported attack risks disturbing the fragile peace and normalcy that local communities have been working to maintain.
The KZVV views the incident as a serious provocation, particularly at a time when the Kuki community along the IT Road has been advocating dialogue, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
We strongly condemn any attack on unarmed civilians and farmers. Civilians must not be targeted under any circumstances.
OUR DEMANDS
The KZVV Twilang Lhang demands that the concerned authorities:
1. Immediately identify and arrest those responsible.
2. Conduct a transparent and impartial investigation.
3. Issue a clear public statement on the incident and those responsible.
4. Ensure the safety of farmers and civilians along the IT Road.
5. Take immediate steps to prevent further escalation.
We make it clear that continued inaction or failure to hold the perpetrators accountable may further deteriorate the law-and-order situation. The KZVV will not be responsible for any untoward incidents arising from continued failure to address the matter.
Our objective remains peace, civilian protection and restoration of normalcy along the IT Road. However, peace cannot be sustained when attacks on innocent civilians go unanswered.
We therefore urge the Government and concerned authorities to act swiftly, firmly and impartially and prevent this incident from developing into a larger confrontation.
