IMPHAL, Aug. 3, 2026: The Directorate of Tribal Affairs & Hills, Government of Manipur, has invited online applications for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for the academic session 2026-27.
According to a notification issued on July 31, 2026, eligible ST students whose parents' or guardians' annual income does not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh can apply. The scholarships are available for students studying in government or government-recognised schools, colleges, institutions, and universities across India.
Applications must be submitted online only through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP 2.0) at https://scholarships.gov.in/. The online application process will begin on August 1, 2026, and remain open until October 31, 2026. The deadline for defective application correction and institute verification is November 20, 2026, while verification by the District, State and Ministry Nodal Officers will continue until December 30, 2026.
The department also reminded hostel applicants to comply with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs' hostel eligibility guidelines. Students residing in approved private accommodation must obtain certification from the head of their institution, failing which their applications will be rejected.
Applicants have been advised to use their own mobile number, email ID, login ID and password while applying and avoid changing their registered mobile number during the scholarship process.
The notification further clarified that students studying in fully government-funded institutions providing free education, boarding and lodging are not eligible to apply for these scholarship schemes.
