Pherzawl Observes Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, Pays Tribute to Victims

PHERZAWL, August 14 2026: Partition Horrors Remembrance Day (Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas) was observed at Parbung Hr. Sec. School in Pherzawl district today, with students and teaching staff paying solemn tribute to the victims of the Partition of India in 1947.

The observance recalled the immense human suffering caused by the Partition, including widespread communal violence, loss of lives and the forced displacement of an estimated 10 to 20 million people. It also remembered the resilience of those who survived the tragedy and rebuilt their lives in its aftermath.

As part of the programme, 83 students and eight teaching staff enacted a drama portraying the painful experiences associated with Partition. They also observed a two-minute silence in memory of those who lost their lives during the tragic period.

The observance carried a strong message of human dignity, unity and peace, urging people to draw lessons from the painful experiences of the past. It stressed the need to reject hatred and division and work towards fostering harmony and preventing such tragedies from recurring.
