TKS Orders Shutdown, Boycotts I-Day Programmes

Ukhrul, August 14, 2026: The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), the Tangkhul Students’ Union, has directed all educational institutions under its jurisdiction to refrain from participating in any celebration or programme marking Indian Independence Day on August 15.

The directive, issued on August 14, said the decision was taken in pursuance of directives from the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM).

TKS has also announced a total shutdown until 12 noon on August 15, 2026.

All concerned zonals, sub-zonals and federating units have been directed to enforce the shutdown and ensure strict adherence to the directive within their respective jurisdictions.

The TKS appealed to all concerned to extend full cooperation towards the effective implementation of the directive.
