Lamka, August 14, 2026: Security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the Sehken-Khuga Dam area of Churachandpur district on Friday amid intensified security measures ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
A patrolling party of the 1st Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) recovered the following items during an operation in the area:
One locally made single-barrel gun
One locally made SMC carbine
One locally made .32 pistol
Six live rounds of .32 pistol ammunition
Two Baofeng handheld radio sets
One improvised mortar (Pumpi)
The recovery was made as part of heightened security arrangements in the district ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The recovered arms, ammunition and communication equipment were taken into custody for further investigation.
