Anti-Illicit Liquor Drive Destroys 2,000 Litres in Singngat
Lamka, August 13, 2026: District Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), under the command of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Singngat, conducted an anti-illicit distilled liquor drive at T. Khajang village and adjoining areas on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The operation was carried out from 12 noon to 2 pm under the jurisdiction of Singngat Police Station. During the drive, security personnel destroyed approximately 2,000 litres of DIC (distilled illicit country) liquor at the spot. In a landmark homecoming, the Kuki community in the UK visited the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford on 3rd August 2026 for their first exclusive access to 1,165 ancestral artefacts, the largest Kuki collection in the world. Led by S. Seigoulien Haokip of SOAS and hosted by Curator Bryony Smerdon under the theme 'Mapping Connections', the diaspora reconnected through handling of heirlooms, folk songs and storytelling.
