Miss Neiesther Dies After Longpi Attack, Family Mourns

Lamka , September 20, 2026: Miss Neiesther of Longpi village, who sustained severe injuries in an alleged attack by NSCN (IM), has died while undergoing treatment at District Hospital, Churachandpur. Neiesther  had been receiving critical care in the hospital’s Tele-ICU following the attack. Despite medical treatment, she succumbed to her injuries. Her family expressed deep sorrow over her death, describing her as a beloved niece, daughter and sister. Her passing has left her family and loved ones mourning the loss of a cherished member. Kuki-Naga clashes in Manipur: Uday S. Reddy | Birmingham

THE present Kuki-Naga clashes that erupted in 2026 are the third round of clashes between the Kukis and Nagas in Manipur. The first round occurred between 1957 and 1971 (approximately). Very little direct information is available about it since it was a remote corner of India relatively unreachable to the media at that time. Modern research shows that many Kuki villages in Naga-dominated areas (Tamenglong and Noney, Senapati, Ukhrul and Kamjong) were evicted, by issuing threats and quit notices, along with targeted killings.
