We strongly and unequivocally refute the news report published on November 16, 2025, alleging that Kuki-Zo MLAs have decided to join the formation of a "popular Ministry" in place of the existing President's Rule.
No such decisions were taken, nor was any commitment made to be part of any future government formation.
While a general conference of the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) was held on November 15, 2025, to discuss critical issues, no official resolution or decision was passed committing the Kuki-Zo MLAs to join a future popular government. The discussion focused primarily on the urgent demand for a UT with Legislature.
The report misrepresents the internal deliberation. The question of joining a Ministry was debated at length with strong views expressed, with many representatives strongly asserting that Kuki-Zo MLAs should not join any popular Ministry until the Government of India provides an unequivocal statement regarding the objective for UT with legislature.
The overwhelming consensus and primary focus of the meeting was the demand. Any discussion concerning a future Ministry was strictly contingent upon progress on this core political objective and did not result in a binding decision to participate in government formation under the current circumstances.
The report's assertion that "it was agreed that the Kuki-Zo MLAs should join any popular Ministry" is a complete fabrication and a gross misrepresentation of the proceedings and the political stance of the Kuki-Zo community.
