The Government of Manipur has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur to conduct an enquiry into allegations of non-distribution of NFSA/PMGKAY rice by several Fair Price Shops (FPS) in the district, despite records showing 100% lifting and proper paperwork.
The directive was issued by the Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAF&PD) after receiving a representation from Shri Michael Lamjathang Thadou, State Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Pradesh. His complaint, dated 8 December 2025, alleged that although FPS records show full lifting of rice, many beneficiaries claim they have not received their entitled quota.
The government noted that this discrepancy between official lifting records and ground-level distribution needs urgent verification. Several villages reportedly face gaps in actual delivery despite complete documentation.
The Deputy Commissioner has been asked to look into the issue and submit a factual report at the earliest for onward submission to higher authorities. Copies of the order were also sent to senior officials, including the Chief Secretary and the District Supply Officer.
