Dec 20, 2025: The Village Volunteers, Eastern Zone (VVEZ), Kuki-Gam, has expressed grave concern over reports that certain Kuki MLAs were seen meeting jointly with Meitei MLAs in New Delhi.
In a press statement (Ref No. VVEZ-PR/037/12-25), VVEZ reiterated that Kuki MLAs should not participate in the formation of the so‑called "popular government" in Manipur, stressing that the Kuki and Meitei communities are physically and geographically separated, a reality that must be acknowledged.
VVEZ has urged the Government of India to formally recognize this separation and grant a separate administrative arrangement in the form of a Union Territory for the Kuki people.
The organization also emphasized that resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) without a comprehensive political solution to the ongoing ethnic conflict will only exacerbate tensions and may lead to further escalation between the affected communities.
The statement was issued by the Information & Publicity wing of the Village Volunteers, Eastern Zone (VVEZ).
