PRESS RELEASE
Strong Condemnation of the Burning of K. Songlung village by armed Miscreants
While the nation was celebrating it's Republic Day , the kuki Zo
Villagers of K Songlung in Kangpokpi district Manipur were yet again subjected to another attack and burning by Zaliengrong United Front(Kamson group) , a Non SoO group operating in Kangchup kuki area.
We strongly condemn the constant brutality and inhumane act of arson committed by the Zaliengrong armed miscreants respnsible for the burning of K. Songlung village in kangpokpi district . This has caused widespread destruction, fear, and suffering among the innocent villagers.
The deliberate burning of homes and property belonging to peaceful kuki Zo villagers is a grave act of crime and a blatant violation of human rights. Such acts of violence not only endanger lives and livelihoods but also threaten communal harmony and the rule of law.
The coverage of such an inhumane act with a press communique from ZUF(Kamson group) and branding the brutal act as a campaign against poppy cultivation is disgraceful. The communique also diplay the true intent of a deliberate plan of creating disharmony between the communities living in the area.
We call upon the authorities to:
1. Conduct an immediate search operation against the organisation and leaders responsible for this arson.
2. Identify and bring the perpetrators to immediate justice.
3. Ensure adequate security for vulnerable villages to prevent further attacks.
4. Provide urgent relief, rehabilitation, and compensation to the affected families.
Keeping in view the volatile situation of the of the kuki Zo ancestral villages and people, the Kuki Zo village volunteers shall stand guard on all kuki Zo ancestral villages henceforth. Befitting action shall be initiated against the perpetrators of this arson and any force that may act against the innocent kuki Zo villagers shall be dealt with immediate action. We request the general public to stay calm and prepare for any eventuality.
