Manipur Govt Transfers Six Missing Naga Persons Case to NIA;
Urges UNC to End Economic Blockade
The Government of Manipur has written to the United Naga Council (UNC) President Shri Ng. Lorho, confirming that the case involving six missing Naga persons has been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for independent, transparent and expeditious investigation.
In the letter dated 31st May 2026, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home) N. Ashok Kumar stated that Security Forces have intensified Cordon and Search Operations (CASO), combing operations, area domination and intelligence-based actions to trace the missing persons.
The government also assured that the Suspension of Operations (SoO) Agreement and Designated Camps ground rules will continue to be strictly enforced, including rationalisation and relocation of camps in coordination with the Government of India.
The letter further stated that anyone found involved in the abduction of civilians will be dealt with strictly irrespective of affiliation or status.
The Manipur Government has also requested UNC to facilitate safe release of people and open up any economic blockade in public interest.
