CHANGE does not always require decades; sometimes, all it takes is a leader with a genuine vision and a strong willingness to work hard. Since taking charge on 18th May 2026, the new Principal of Churachandpur College, Ginzamang T. Zomi, has brought a remarkable wave of development that has completely revived the campus. For years, the college was weighed down by neglect, but in a matter of weeks, this historic campus has been transformed. His first steps were basic yet revolutionary: removing over sixty truckloads of piled-up garbage, repairing the administrative buildings, and installing a deep borewell to secure reliable drinking water. With free Wi-Fi now being set up and classrooms finally getting proper ceiling fans and lights, the entire learning environment feels alive again. Looking at the long list of past principals since 1964, one cannot help but ask: why did these essential improvements take so long to happen? What was achieved in all those years that a new leader could outshine in just a few days? We must warmly appreciate this outstanding initiative which sets a brilliant example for others.
What makes these reforms even more admirable is the genuine care shown for the entire college community. From raising the pay for teachers marking papers to abolishing the unfair, double-collected identity card fee, the new administration is actively reducing unnecessary burdens. He has even set up facilitation centres to help displaced students and staff during the ongoing regional crisis, offering a vital lifeline to those in need. Yet, despite these incredible steps forward, some people still choose to criticize these timely actions. It is highly disappointing to see such negativity directed at someone working so hard for the common good. We must openly blame those critics who prefer to find fault rather than help build a better environment. These naysayers seem to fear progress, choosing to throw stones from the sidelines instead of supporting reforms that directly benefit our youth. Their complaints are empty and do a major disservice to the teachers, staff, and students who are finally seeing their campus treated with the respect it deserves.
His future plans show a deep commitment to long-term academic success. By proposing new, high-demand courses like Psychology and Social Work, seeking funds for a modern academic building, and planning an on-campus ATM, he is building a brighter future for the next generation. This rapid progress forces us to look back and ask hard questions about the past. If one dedicated person can clean the campus, repair the classrooms, and support the students in a few short weeks, what were others actually doing during the last many years? The sudden shift highlights a long, disappointing history of empty promises and inaction before his arrival. It is time for the critics to stop their baseless complaints and let the work speak for itself. Churachandpur College has finally found a true leader who acts instead of just talking, and it is our collective duty to support him wholeheartedly as he guides this great and historic institution into a successful and stable new era.
