Imphal, August 20, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Losii Dikho today inaugurated the newly constructed Tribal Market at Mayophung Village in Ukhrul District, located along National Highway 202 (Imphal-Ukhrul road).
The event was organised by the Nashira Area People’s Organisation (NAPO). They also undertook the construction of the Tribal Market under the 4th State Finance Commission through the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Ukhrul.
Gracing the programme as the Chief Guest, Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Losii Dikho highlighted the significance of the Tribal Market, stating that it would provide economic opportunities for the local farmers and strengthen their livelihoods.
He noted that its location along the National Highway would make it easily accessible not only to people from Mayophung area but also to those travelling from Imphal and other areas, enabling them to purchase local produce.
He emphasized that the market would help boost local production and contribute to making the State self-reliant.
The Deputy Chief Minister further assured that the State Environment Department would provide necessary assistance for the beautification of the market and its surroundings.
Representatives of NAPO submitted a memorandum to Shri Losii Dikho seeking the Construction of Ava Market (New) Tribal Market Shed, Public Sanitation Facility and Borewell at the NAPO Headquarter, Mayophung, Ukhrul. In response, Shri Losii Dikho assured them of necessary support.
Members of the All Foothills Tribal Auto Association, Yaingangpokpi, Ukhrul District also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister during the programme.
Shri Khashim Vashum, MLA, 45-Chingai (ST) Assembly Constituency; Shri Leishiyo Keishing, MLA, 43-Phungyar (ST) AC; Shri Ram Muivah, MLA, 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC; Shri Ngaranmi Kasar, Convenor (NAPO) and Rev. Samuel Zimk, Pastor, Ngarumphung B/C, were among those present at the event.
