In a coordinated effort, large contingents of combined security forces are conducting cordon-and-search operations and area domination exercises in fringe and vulnerable areas of Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Thoubal districts. Strict security measures have been put in place, with nakas (checkpoints) established at various locations and extensive combing operations underway. The Director General of Police (DGP) is personally overseeing operations in areas that have witnessed a surge in killings and armed activities between communities in recent weeks.
On June 17, 2026, security forces destroyed four bunkers at different locations under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi district. The bunkers were located at Thingphai Village and C. Kholen Village, with two bunkers dismantled at each site.
On the same day, security forces demolished an unauthorised checkpoint and a bunker at S. Nabil Village and Loilamkoi Village under Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur district.
On June 16, 2026, security forces destroyed 14 bunkers, including five along the Mogkot Chepu – Patlijang hill stretch and nine along the Lungphu Junction–Industrial Estate Centre hill stretch. Two empty 5.56 mm cartridge cases were recovered from the former site.
