Memorable Field Education at Henry Martyn Institute, Hyderabad | UTC Students

We, the students of United Theological College, Bengaluru, feel truly blessed to have had our Intensive Field Education at the Henry Martyn Institute (HMI), Hyderabad, from 18 October to 10 November 2023.

Our time at HMI was filled with meaningful experiences — from inspiring interfaith classes on Hinduism and Islam to enriching field visits and engaging discussions. The beautiful campus, the well-stocked library, and the delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners made our stay even more memorable.

Each day began with a refreshing morning devotion, shared in rotation among all the students. Experiencing an interfaith devotion for the first time was truly enlightening and spiritually enriching — a moment that opened our hearts to diverse ways of worship and reflection.

The faculty members at HMI were incredibly kind, patient, and approachable, while the students welcomed us like true brothers and sisters. The warm hospitality and genuine care we received touched our hearts deeply.

Overall, our stay at HMI was a transformative and life-changing experience — one that we will always cherish in our memories.

Our days at HMI felt too short — like fleeting clouds passing across the sky. The moments we shared were meaningful and inspiring, leaving us a wish — if, we could have stayed longer to learn and grow even more from that beautiful experience.

Eighteen-year-old Keziah Mero is Miss Kohima 2023. She was crowned on Saturday (11-11-2023) at a beauty pageant at the De'Oriental hotel in Kohima, Nagaland. Nineteen-year-old Tolika K Kishepu was declared the 1st runner-up and 20-year-old Katienla Longchar was declared the 2nd runner-up.

Vidhana Soudha | Bengaluru (Photos)

The Vidhana Soudha houses the Karnataka State Secretariat and State Legislative Assembly.

Construction began in 1952 and was finished in 1956. About 5000 labourers and 1500 chisellers, masons and wood-carvers worked on the project. Almost all the unskilled workers deployed in its construction were convicts, who were given their freedom on its completion. 

The entire cost of the project was Rs 1.75 crore.

The Hmar Students Association (HSA), stands in unwavering solidarity with the Joint Students Body in their call for a "Rally Against Educational Negligence" scheduled for November 11, 2023. Recognizing the importance of addressing concerns related to educational negligence, the HSA fully supports the initiative undertaken by the Joint Students Body.

While the HSA is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of students, it is essential to acknowledge the challenges posed by the ongoing examination period. In our functional areas, the majority of schools are actively conducting exams, making it impractical for the HSA to enforce a shutdown during this critical period.

The HSA remains dedicated to collaborating with educational authorities and stakeholders to address the underlying issues contributing to educational negligence. Our focus is on fostering an environment that prioritizes the holistic development and well-rounded education of students.

TBC Geltui completed reading Thangkhal Bible in 7 days

Members of the Thangkhal Baptist Church (TBC-ABA) of S. Geltui village has completed reading the Thangkhal Holy Bible from Genesis to Revelation in one week, i.e. 01-07 November, 2023.

'PASIAN LAISIANGTHOU' is the first Holy Bible of the Thangkhal Community in Manipur.

This Bible has been released by Rev. Dr. Kavito G. Zhimo, General Secretary, Bible Society of India (BSI), Bengaluru on 17th October, 2023.

The Gospel came into the southern Manipur in 1910. It was after 113 years, this Bible came into being.

Manipur violence: Continuation of 24 hours ultimatum by CoTU

IN PURSUANCE of the expiry of 24 Hours ultimatum served to the concern authorities to bring those five kidnapped family members of a wedding party from Kangchup Chingkhong on the 7th November by Meitei miscreants for their safe return; it is however learned that two of the five have been brutally murdered and one was rescued by the Centre Security Forces but the whereabouts of remaining two individuals remains yet to be ascertained.

It is also learnt that two Kuki-Zo individuals one Mr Lunkhosei Chongloi of C. Aisan village at Saikul and Mr Satgougin Hangshing of Khomunnom Village at Litan were arrested on alleged abduction cases of one Mr Avinash Maibam and Ningthoujam Anthony of Akham Awang Leikai by the Senapati Police.

Therefore, the Committee on Tribal Unity is constrained to impose public agitation in all areas dominated by the Kuki-Zo communities in SADAR HILLS- Kangpokpi w.e.f. from the issue of this statement until the rest of the kidnapped family members are safely returned to their families and the concern authority for unconditional release of our two Kuki-Zo individuals who are detained at Senapati Police Station on false charges of abduction.
