COTU PRESS COMMUNIQUE: Mr Mangminlal Kipgen

29th July 2024, Sadar Hills, Kanggui

Propounded peace initiatives by the Centre Government in an ethnic torn violence state of Manipur will never see the light of the day until and unless the current dispensation headed by the incumbent Chief Minister, N Biren Singh garner the courage to rein in his armed militias and the radical Meitei mob against atrocities towards the minorities in the state and deter hate-spewing rhetoric against the Kuki-Zo community.

It is learnt that Mr. Mangminlal Kipgen,  S/o Mr Kampao Kipgen of Tuibong, Lamka (Churachandpur) was waylaid by a Meitei mob from a paddy field on the 27th July and was handed over to the Indian Reserve Battalion, Naranseina, who eventually handed over to the Armed Meitei Militants.

Mentioned may be made that, Mr. Mangminlal Kipgen who is in the custody of the Armed Meitei Militants, is a person with hearing disability and of unsound mind. It is in interest of both warring communities to maintain civility and decency where an unarmed innocent civilians especially women, children and disable persons must not be harm at all cost.

Therefore, the Committee urges the current dispensation to release Mr. Mangminlal Kipgen from the clutches of the VBIGs without any harm and to take punitive action against the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Naranseina police personnel for deliberate handing over of a captive victim to his own peril.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

Lamka, the 29th July, 2024

Kuki Inpi Manipur profoundly mourns the passing of Pu Thangkhangin Ngaihte, a distinguished former executive of Kuki Inpi Manipur.

Pu Thangkhangin Ngaihte served as the vice president of Kuki Inpi Manipur for two consecutive terms from 1995 to 1997 with unwavering dedication and abled leadership. He was not only an ardent social worker but also a visionary reformer and a person of remarkable character. His contributions have left an indelible mark on our community, and his passing is an immeasurable loss for all the Kuki-Zo people.

In this time of sorrow, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. May the good Lord provide them with strength and solace during this difficult period.

May his noble soul rest in eternal peace.
