Statewide Protest Rally Held Against NIA Discrimination Towards Kuki-Zo People

LAMKA, August 21, 2026 — Thousands gathered today for a massive statewide protest rally organized by the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) to voice strong opposition against alleged National Investigation Agency (NIA) discrimination, bias, and selective actions targeting the Kuki-Zo community.

Operating under the unified slogan "One People. One Voice. One Demand: Justice!" and the rally cry "No Justice, No Peace!", demonstrators gathered at 11:00 AM at the Koite Play Ground. Demonstrators carried placards demanding equal justice, an end to selective investigations, and an immediate halt to systemic bias against the Kuki-Zo population.

The march kicked off from Koite Play Ground and proceeded through major landmarks across Lamka Town, including:

  • Tuinom Road Junction

  • Main Road (Lamka Town)

  • Tuibong Bazar

The rally concluded at the Wall of Remembrance, Tuibong, where the official program took place.

The formal proceedings at the Wall of Remembrance were compered by Nu Lamneikim, Secretary of Organisation at KWOHR.

  • Opening Prayer: Delivered by Pr Letkholen Chongloi, who led the gathering in invocation.

  • Welcome Address: Delivered by Pi Ngaineikim, setting the stage for the community leaders.

  • Keynote Addresses: Representatives from major Kuki-Zo civil society organizations addressed the crowd, raising concerns over recent law enforcement actions:

    • KIM (Kuki Inpi Manipur)

    • KIC (Kuki Inpi Churachandpur)

    • KSO Ccpur (Kuki Students' Organisation, Churachandpur)

    • KWU (Kuki Women Union)

  • Closing Prayer: Concluded by Pr L. Singsit, bringing the program to a solemn close.

Organizers emphasized that the mobilization served as a unified statement against perceived institutional bias, demanding transparency and equal treatment under the law.
