As we gather to celebrate the 8th Anniversary of Thangkhal Baptist Church
(ABA), Delhi, our hearts overflow with joy, gratitude, and praise. We give all
thanksgiving, honour, and glory to Almighty God for His steadfast love,
guidance, and unwavering faithfulness upon our congregation throughout these
years. Happy 8th Anniversary to all the members, elders, and friends of TBC
Delhi!
The journey of our local church marks a significant milestone in our community’s history. For the first time in Thangkhal history, Thangkhal Baptist Church was inaugurated in Munirka, New Delhi, on Sunday, 2nd September 2018. The church was solemnly inaugurated by Elder Thangsuanhang (1960–28 Oct 2023), President of TBC (ABA) H/Q Manipur. This historic moment was followed by a blessing prayer offered by Rev.Khaikhanthang (1957–24 July 2020), who served as the speaker for the InauguralWorship Service and faithfully pastored our congregation as the first local pastor until his passing.
Our church stands on the deep spiritual legacy of those who walked before us. The Thangkhals first received the Gospel in 1939 through evangelist Thawngluan (1902–02 July 1983), who arrived in T. Khajangvillage on 07 March 1939 and laboured there until 1947. His wife, Pi Thuangkhongai - affectionately remembered as “Thangkhal Missionary Pi” - was called home to heaven at the age of 100 on 15 April 2019. Decades later, the first congregation of the Thangkhals, the “Thangkhal Christian Association”, came into being on 04 April 1981 at M. Tanglian village. It was inaugurated by Rev. H. Chinzakhai (Sia Khai), while Mr. Khuphenpau (1948–2012), President of the Thangkhal Peoples’ Organisation (TPO, formed in 1978), unveiled the foundation stone inscribed with our guiding verse: “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). God’s providence continued through the translation of His Word into our mother tongue: the New Testament in Thangkhal, translated by Rev. K. Ginkhankap, MTh (started in May 2006), was released by Rev. Dr. ZK Rochil, Auxiliary Secretary, BSI Dimapur on 18 July 2010; and the complete Thangkhal Holy Bible, with the Old Testament translated by Pastor Thangdoulal Suantak, MTh (started in 2016), was released by Rev. Dr.Kavito G Zhimo, General Secretary, BSI Bangalore on 17 October 2023.
As we look back at these remarkable milestones, let us be filled with renewed courage, faith, and hope for the future. The same God who guided our pioneers through decades of evangelism, scripture translation, and church planting is actively working among us today in Delhi. Let us remain faithful to our calling, standing firm in unity, love, and true worship. May we continue to honour the legacy of our forefathers by anchoring our lives in the Holy Bible and worshipping God in spirit and truth. Be encouraged, dear members, for the Lord who began a good work in us will surely carry it on to completion!

Thangkhal Baptist Church (ABA), Delhi, celebrates its 8th Anniversary with gratitude for God’s faithfulness.
The church was inaugurated in Munirka, New Delhi, on 2 September 2018.
Its journey is rooted in the Thangkhal community’s Gospel history, beginning with evangelism in 1939.
The church also honours the establishment of the first Thangkhal congregation in 1981.
The translation and publication of the Thangkhal New Testament and complete Holy Bible mark significant milestones.
The anniversary reflects on this rich spiritual heritage while looking ahead with renewed faith, unity and hope.
