Reverend Khaikhanthang began his ministry as an evangelist and youth leader in the Thangkhal Christian Association (TCA), founded in 1981. He was a gifted man with a natural ability for creating songs, and he composed many Thangkhal Christian songs over the years. He also taught tonic solfa and singing to the youth.

Under his guidance, the TCA Choir emerged in 1982, made up of young people who loved singing. He taught them songs, Bible verses, and many other things. He helped the choir learn beautiful and uplifting songs, and they travelled to various Thangkhal villages to present action songs. Wherever they went, they received appreciation and blessings. Rev Khaikhanthang—fondly known as Sia Khaikhan—served as the main speaker during these visits. Sia is a respectful title used by the Thangkhals for a leader or teacher who guides a group.
One memory that stays with me from childhood was an evening service where he spoke about a visit to Ukhrul. He spoke about how the team performed songs and action songs, toured the area, and even visited a well-known cave. I remember listening with wonder.
He spoke slowly, calmly, and thoughtfully. People loved to hear him. In those days, he was seen as a man rich in knowledge, and the Thangkhal youth admired him greatly.

Many years ago, I also attended a youth camp in Ngoiphai village where he was the speaker. Those good days are now only memories.
Among his many songs, one of the most notable is Vevaw Tazen Lai Ah Na Sa’ng, dedicated to the Thangkhal missionary who suffered in the Thangkhal hills.
Sadly, he was called home to be with the Lord on the morning of 24 July 2020 in New Delhi at the age of 60. At the time, he was serving as pastor of the Thangkhal Baptist Church, New Delhi.
After receiving Jesus as his personal Saviour in 1974, he felt called to the ministry of ‘Missio Dei’. Until his last breath, he served his Saviour faithfully.
Rev Khaikhanthang became one of the longest-serving pastors among the Thangkhals. His influence extended far beyond preaching, and his contribution to the Thangkhal Christian community was immense, inspiring, and deeply uplifting.
