UK Kukis Reclaim History at Oxford Museum, Donate Heirloom Textile

In a landmark homecoming, the Kuki community in the UK visited the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford on 3rd August 2026 for their first exclusive access to 1,165 ancestral artefacts, the largest Kuki collection in the world. Led by S. Seigoulien Haokip of SOAS and hosted by Curator Bryony Smerdon under the theme 'Mapping Connections', the diaspora reconnected through handling of heirlooms, folk songs and storytelling. The day culminated with the donation of a traditional Numei Saipikhup woven by Pi Nengtin Haokip.
