ZUF Condemns NSCN-IM Firing, Rejects Extortion Allegations

The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has strongly condemned what it described as an unprovoked attack by NSCN-IM cadres on its personnel in the Samlengtiang area of Khoupum on August 1, 2026 In a press communiqué issued on Monday, ZUF alleged that NSCN-IM cadres opened fire at around 6:10 pm, forcing its members to respond in what it called legitimate self-defence. The organisation claimed that several NSCN-IM cadres were reportedly injured during the exchange of fire.
