Hmar Students' Association: Condemnation
NEW DELHI, 02 JULY 2023 (PR): The Hmar Students’ Association Joint Headquarters Delhi stands united in grief and shock as we condemn the barbaric act committed by Meitei terrorists in Langza Village, Churachandpur District, Manipur. The recent incident concerning the brutal murder of Mr. David Thiek, a valiant defender and fellow kinsmen, has left our community shattered and appalled. It is with deep sorrow that we express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. David |hiek. His courageous actions in defending his village until his last breath will forever be etched in our memories. His selflessness and unwavering commitment to protecting his fellow tribesmen serve as a shining example of bravery and resilience.
The act of
Meitei terrorists, who not only took the life of an innocent man but also
callously displayed his severed head on a pole, is not only a gross violation
of human rights but also an abomination against humanity itself. Such acts of
violence have no place in our society and must be vehemently condemned.
We want to
emphasize that this cowardly act will not deter us, the Kuki-Hmar-Zomi-Mizo
Tribals, from standing with our brethren tribes against these anti-national
terrorists. We vow to remain resolute in our commitment to the safety and
security of our communities. We firmly believe that the sacrifice of Mr. David
Thiek will not go in vain, and we will continue to seek justice for his
untimely demise.
We strongly
urge the authorities concerned to take swift and decisive action to bring the
perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. It is imperative that the guilty
are held accountable for their actions, not only for the sake of justice but
also to send a strong message that such acts of violence will not be tolerated.

ITLF Condemns Gruesome Attack on Tribal Villages (VIDEO)
LAMKA, 02 JULY 2023 (PR): The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) expresses its utmost condemnation and outrage at the recent heinous attack on the tribal villages of Langza and Chinglangmei of Lamka District (formerly Churachandpur), located around 70 kms southeast of Imphal at around 4 am in the morning. This brazen act of violence was perpetrated by a group of individuals, clad in black t-shirts, allegedly identified as members of Arambai Tengols. They were accompanied by a convoy of around 20 trucks suspected to contain members of Meira Paibis, radicalized groups Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun, which further intensified the assault on the village. During the attack, the assailants callously looted the properties of the innocent villagers, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Subsequently, they proceeded to set fire to 26 houses and three churches (Independent Church of India, Evangelical Assembly Church, and Reformed Presbyterian Church), inflicting irreparable damage on the community.
Regrettably, several village tribal volunteers were present during this terrifying ordeal. While two women and some men managed to escape, one villager, Mr. David Hmar, tragically lost his life. The assailants cruelly severed his neck and displayed his head on a fence, before callously discarding his body into one of the engulfed houses. This act of savagery demonstrates a complete disregard for human life and a reprehensible contempt for the tribal community.
Furthermore, the ITLF is deeply disturbed by the abduction of five innocent villagers, adding to the already devastating impact of the ongoing spree of looting, murder, and arson in the tribal villages since May 3, 2023. This reprehensible act further highlights the urgent need for immediate action to ensure the safety and security of the tribal communities in Outer Manipur.
Once again, the ITLF calls upon the Honorable President of India, the Honorable Prime Minister and concerned Union Ministers, and others at Raisina Hill to take swift and decisive action to bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice. Why has President’s Rule not been imposed yet? Is the Central Government waiting for the state-sponsored, Meitei-centric majority government of Manipur to complete the ethnic cleansing of the tribal community?Additionally, we call upon the national and international community, human rights organizations and concerned individuals to unite in condemning this ongoing pogrom by the Meiteis.
The ITLF continues to stand in solidarity with all our tribal communities during this dark and trying time. We remain steadfast and resolute in our commitment to safeguard our lands, rights, and identity in Outer Manipur and will not be bogged down by such inhuman atrocities unleashed upon us. We will stand tall and persevere.

Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF GHQ) Condemns
LAMKA, 02 JULY 2023 (PR): Recent events have proved beyond any doubt the Nexus between the different sections of Meitei Society; their political leaders and their Armed radicalised groups such as Arambai Tengol or the Valley Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs) or their womenfolk (Meira Paibi). The Nexus between the different sections of Meitei society has again resulted in the brutal killing by decapitation of David Thiek whose death ZSF deeply mourns.
The Chief Minister’s visit to Laingoubi Ching today resulted in fierce fighting between Meitei insurgents and tribal village defenders in the area. It is obvious that the CM himself transported the attackers as part of his official convoy, in order not to be stopped by Central Security Forces maintaining a buffer zone. The increasing use of official channels and use of women and children so as to gain an advantage over the tribals has to be stopped and more determined action by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Central Forces should be taken up.The tolerance for the illegal yet unpunished activities of the Meira Paibis by the Central Security Forces continues to baffle us. They accompany attackers and in most cases, ride along with them and go into action at the first sight of intervention by the Central Security Forces who try to end the violence the attackers they accompany perpetrate. This role of accompanying the attackers is now being played by the Chief Minister himself which ZSF condemns in the strongest terms.
It is unfortunate that yet another member of the Zomi-Kuki-Hmar, David Thiek, has fallen victim to the complicity of the political leadership and the Meira Paibis with their armed terrorist groups.

Rising People's Party: The Biren-RSS Experiment in Manipur
It's crystal clear that the three ethnic groups of Manipur, the Nagas, Kukis and Meiteis CANNOT LIVE TOGETHER. There can be only one solution in Manipur - a bifurication for all the 3 ethnic groups with executive, legislaive and financial powers for the Nagas and Kukis.

ITLF Pres Statement: Condemnation
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) strongly condemns the involvement of an active serviceman in attacking Indian civilians.
Almost two months into the ethnic conflict in Manipur, armed Meitei groups led by rogue state forces are still attacking tribal settlements while the womenfolk are used to block security forces from aiding hapless villagers.
Even a public face like Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was blocked from travelling to the tribal district of Lamka (Churachandpur). The N. Biren Singh-led government directed the SP and DC of Bishnupur to prevent Gandhi from reaching Lamka town by road on the false pretext of violence in tribal areas. Mr Gandhi eventually reached the town by helicopter to personally witness a peaceful and welcoming community. This shows that the government is fearful of letting any neutral observer from discovering what is really happening on the ground.
Even as Gandhi was visiting the state, violence continued unabated with tribal settlements being attacked in Kangpokpi district by Meitei gunmen supported by Manipur police commandos. A national newspaper quoted defence sources as saying the attack was “premeditated”.
While army columns were immediately deployed to stop the attacks, they were shot at by “armed rioters” and Meitei mobs converged to interfere with the operations of the security forces. It is pertinent to note that out of more than 4,000 weapons looted from police and state armouries in May, just over 1,000 have been returned to authorities. This means more than 3,000 weapons are still being used to terrorize tribals.
ITLF demands the imposition of President’s Rule in the state and action against militant groups like Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun if the central government is sincere about stopping the violence.
