KIM PRESS RELEASE: RSS

PRESS RELEASE
KIM Secretariat, the 6th May, 2025

04/KIM/PR/21-94: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) strongly condemns the recent announcement made by
the Rashtrahit Sarvopari Sangathan (RSS) and its affiliated Hindu organisations to launch a so-called "Chalo Manipur" march, which openly calls for lakhs of individuals to enter Kuki-inhabited hill areas under the guise of "rehabilitating displaced Meiteis." This provocative campaign is not only deeply
irresponsible but a deliberate attempt to escalate the already volatile situation in Manipur and further incite ethnic violence.

Moreover, attempts to portray the proposed march as a religious rehabilitation effort are disingenuous
and dangerous. The so-called "Chalo Manipur" campaign is a veiled effort to forcibly push Meiteis into
Kuki territories, with full awareness that this would lead to fresh clashes, communal tension, and
bloodshed.

This march, flagged off in New Delhi by a coalition of right-wing organisations, is nothing but a reckless mobilization intended to provoke hostilities and disrupt peace in the hills. It aligns disturbingly with Chief Minister N. Biren Singh's one-sided governance, which has openly supported Meitei
vigilante groups and has remained silent or complicit when atrocities are committed against tribals. The state machinery has consistently failed to protect minority hill communities, and this latest move appears to be a continuation of a broader plan to eliminate or forcibly displace Kukis from their
ancestral lands.

The Kuki Inpi therefore calls on the Government of India and security agencies to immediately intervene and prevent any such provocative march from taking place. Similarly, we also call on
International human rights observers and national media to take serious note of this dangerous
escalation and hold the responsible parties accountable.

If the proposed "Chalo Manipur" goes ahead, Kuki Inpi Manipur will hold the Government of India
and the Manipur State Government fully responsible for any resulting violence, loss of life, or destruction of property. The hills are not a battleground for political experiments, and the resilience of the Kuki people should not be mistaken for submission. This is not a march for peace or rehabilitation. It is a march for domination, occupation, and ethnic annihilation—and it must be
stopped.

RSS to flag off 'Chalo Manipur' march

Imphal, May 04 2025: The Rashtrahit Sarvopari Sangathan (RSS) and around 50 Hindu organisations have raised "Chalo Manipur" slogan for "lakhs across the country to go to Kuki areas and rehabilitate displaced Meiteis in their original homes" .

The "Chalo Manipur" slogan was raised during a "tribute meeting", organised to mark 2 years of the Manipur conflict at Connaught Place, New Delhi yesterday (May 3) .

Sohan Giri, founder National president of Rashtrahit Sarvopari Sangathan, chief advisor Ksh Bhakta Kumar and all Hindu leaders present paid tributes to Meitei people killed in the Manipur conflict since May 3, 2023 .

In the tribute meeting, the organisations resolved to launch the "Chalo Manipur" campaign, aimed at rehabilitating the displaced citizens.

"Lakhs of people from all over India will soon go to Kuki areas in Manipur and will safely rehabilitate 60,000 displaced Meitei brothers in their places," said the Hindu leaders at the meeting.

May 3, 2023 was a black day for India.

On this day, Kuki terrorists carried out a well planned violent protest in the name of a peaceful demonstration, said RSS National president Sohan Giri.

For peace to return to Manipur, the RSS leader placed four demands, unanimously adopted by the organisations, before the Government.

Sohan Giri said that the Government must update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur, allow safe return of displaced citizens to their original places, take strong and decisive action against terror activities, and secure the National Highways of Manipur which are vital lifelines for her people.

On the need for NRC, Giri asserted that the unchecked and growing issue of illegal immigration has deeply disturbed the demographic structure and it poses longterm threats to the identity and rights of indigenous communities.

The Government must implement the NRC in Manipur at the earliest.

This is vital to safeguard the rights of the native people and ensure a just and lawful population record, Giri added.

On rehabilitation of the displaced, Giri said the ongoing conflict has tragically displaced over 60,000 people from their ancestral homes with many currently surviving in relief camps under difficult conditions.

"We appeal for urgent and effective measures to safely return these individuals to their original places of residence, with proper security, compensation, and rehabilitation support so they may rebuild their lives with dignity," Giri said.

The RSS then called for strong and decisive action against terrorist activities.

The presence and actions of armed extremist groups continue to pose a serious threat to peace and civilian life, urging the Government to authorize strong and targeted operations - if necessary, surgical strikes - against those who are destabilizing Manipur through violence and terror.

"The safety and sovereignty of our State must be preserved at all costs," Giri stressed.

Meanwhile, the challenges being faced by the people of Manipur due to frequent blockades, restrictions, and disruptions along the National Highways are also very challenging issues, Giri said.

The National Highways of Manipur are the vital lifelines for the people of Manipur, connecting the valley and hill districts with the rest of the country.

They are essential for the transportation of food supplies, medicines, fuel, and other basic necessities.

Unfortunately, the repeated disruptions along these routes have caused immense hardship to the general public-particularly to the poor, students, patients, and daily wage earners - who suffer the most during such times, Giri said, urging the Government to take appropriate steps to ensure the free and safe movement of goods and people along the National Highways.

National Convenor of Bharat Raksha Manch and Senior Sangh Pracharak Suryakant Kelkar, Hindu United Front Founder Jai Bhagwan Goyal, SC/ST Ayog National Secretary of Manipur PK Chaudhry, industrialist Chandra Shekhar Rai, Rajnikanth, co-organiza-tion minister, Swami Yogi Dhananjay Maharaj, founder of Aadya Foundation Vandana Vats and many other leaders and members of Ramayana Research Council, Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh Bharat, Aadya Foundation, Hindu Mahasabha, Dara Sena, Black Gym, D Fitness and Sant Samaj attended the "tribute meeting".

Clan and Ethnic Group Identity Politics in Chin State: A Barrier to Peace and Democracy

By:
Rev. Suan Muan Thang, M.A., MSW, D.Min, PhD
– President of Global Myanmar Concern and Human Rights Advocate and Counsellor

In the unfolding struggle for democracy and federalism in Myanmar, Chin State stands at a critical crossroads. Once seen as a relatively peaceful and unified frontier, recent developments have revealed deep-seated fractures within Chin society—fractures rooted in clan-based and ethnic group identity politics. While the people of Chin State have long yearned for freedom, dignity, and development, the internal conflicts among Chin resistance groups—particularly between the Chin National Front (CNF), Chinland Defense Forces (CDFs), Chin Brotherhood, and Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA)—are undermining the very foundation of unity, peace, and democratic transformation.

*Identity Politics and Armed Resistance: A Complex Web*
Chin State is home to a rich tapestry of tribes and sub-ethnic groups—such as the Lai, Zomi, Mizo, and others—each with its distinct dialects, histories, and loyalties. While this diversity is a source of cultural wealth, it has also been weaponized in political and military competition. Resistance movements that once claimed to fight a common enemy—the Myanmar military junta—are now turning their weapons against each other, driven by territorial claims, ideological differences, and the politics of identity.

The emergence of the Chin Brotherhood, a coalition of Chinland Defense Forces, was initially hailed as a step toward a united front. However, tensions with the Chin National Front/Army (CNF/CNA)—the longest-standing Chin revolutionary group—have escalated, leading to armed clashes. The CNF, rooted in the Lai community, has faced criticism from other Chin sub-groups who feel marginalized or excluded from decision-making structures.

A recent and troubling episode unfolded in March 2024 when CNF forces clashed with Chin Brotherhood fighters in the Mindat and Hakha areas. The conflict resulted in casualties on both sides and disrupted coordination in joint military operations against the junta. Instead of collaboration, mistrust and accusations dominate inter-group discourse.

Even more concerning is the violent tension between CNF/A and the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), which primarily represents Zomi-speaking communities in southern Chin State and across the border in India. Skirmishes in the Tonzang and Tedim regions have involved abductions, retaliatory killings, and widespread fear among civilians caught between rival Chin forces. These conflicts are no longer just ideological—they are territorial and ethnic in nature, echoing clan rivalries and perceived historical grievances.

*The Cost of Fracture: Civilian Suffering and Strategic Failure*
The disunity has dire consequences. Instead of presenting a formidable, united resistance against the Tatmadaw, Chin armed groups are weakening each other. Resources are wasted, morale is diminished, and grassroots support is strained. Civilians—many of whom are displaced, traumatized, or silenced—are forced to navigate a landscape of divided loyalties, often under threat from multiple sides.

Intra-Chin violence also hands the Myanmar military a dangerous advantage. By fueling local rivalries and exploiting identity divisions, the junta can delay the rise of a cohesive federal democratic movement in Chinland. This is not just a military issue—it is a political and moral crisis.

*Reimagining Unity: Toward a Post-Ethnic Political Future*
If Chin State is to rise and play a leading role in the federal future of Myanmar, identity-based factionalism must be confronted. It is imperative that Chin leaders—both political and religious—begin facilitating truth-telling and reconciliation within their own communities. There must be intentional efforts to:
Promote inclusive leadership structures that represent all Chin sub-groups fairly;
Adopt federal principles that prioritize autonomy and coexistence, rather than dominance by one tribe or ideology;
Establish a Chin Peace and Unity Council, composed of neutral civil society, clergy, and women leaders, to mediate between factions;
Document and acknowledge past violence, including apologies and reparations, where necessary.

Democracy cannot flourish where ethnic supremacy or clan loyalty supersedes common good. If the people of Chin State truly wish to honor the sacrifices of their fallen heroes, they must reject identity politics as a tool of division. Only in solidarity—rooted in justice and mutual respect—can peace become more than a distant hope.

*Conclusion*
The Chin struggle is not merely about resisting dictatorship but also about building a political culture worthy of a federal democratic future. That future cannot be built on the shaky ground of ethnic favouritism or armed factionalism. It must be forged through unity in diversity, humility in leadership, and a radical commitment to peace across all lines—tribal, linguistic, and ideological.

Let the wounds of intra-Chin conflict be a wake-up call. Let the violence between CNF, Chin Brotherhood, and ZRA not be remembered as a curse, but as a turning point toward a more just and united Chinland, Myanmar.

KSO DELHI & NCR: CONDOLENCE MESSAGE: PU SHOLET HAOKIP

The Kuki Students' Organisation, Delhi & NCR, expresses its heartfelt condolences on the passing of Pu Sholet Haokip, beloved father of Mr. Jangminlun Haokip, who served as Vice President of KSO Delhi & NCR during the 2021–2022 term.

Pu Sholet Haokip, a respected elder from Mongpijang Village, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, passed away today at Naga Hospital, Kohima, Nagaland. He was a devoted community leader, serving in various roles, including as the Chairman of Deeper Mass Prayer Spiritual Warrior. His legacy also lives on through his composition of Zol Zol Gamphajol, the theme song of Saitu Gamphajol Area Youth Organisation (SGAYO), which continues to inspire many.

We share in the grief of the bereaved family and pray for God's comfort and peace during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
